Name something more important than being prepared? You would be hard pressed to find a quality that outpaces preparedness in its correlation with success. This is even more true when it comes to the world sports and specifically the world of football. If teams are not prepared in the world of football, the results show on the scoreboard. When you think about the company Nivea, you probably don’t immediately think about football. You probably should, though. Nivea is a company that cares about preparedness and it is trying to establish the importance of preparedness through its Great Football Experiment.
So why is preparation so important? Teams that are not prepared lack the fitness to keep up with their competitors. Likewise, they lack the skill and team play to put their potential into action. With the Great Football Experiment, Nivea is seeking to establish the idea that a prepared football team can overcome all odds. In order to do this, the company has invited a group of Sunday footballers to try their hand against some true legends.
The idea behind the experiment was quite simple. A team called Ivory, F.C. from Essex has been selected to undergo an intense preparation period. Not only will this team of amateurs be given the best possible resources, but they will also receive the best coaching. Over a short period of time, Ray Wilkins and Terry Venables will look to put the club through a transformation of sorts. They will look to provide their world class coaching in hopes of preparing Ivory for a once in a lifetime opportunity. That opportunity will come in the form of a culminating game against a team of true legends.
The Great Football Experiment will end with a game between the newly trained Ivory and a team of established English football legends. The legends will take the field looking to roll over the amateurs, but Ivory have other ideas. Through this experiment, Nivea hopes to prove that a prepared team can truly accomplish anything. Whether Ivory are able to make good on this premise is something that remains to be seen.
